Andy Gray

Space and Robotics Engineer
Comms Team for Mars Desert Research Station (MDRS)

After partially losing his sight, Andy has discovered the hard way, how even simple routine actions can become extremely difficult in low-light conditions. His mission is to develop an astronaut training system for emergency situations like sand storms, power shortages or space suit failures, where vision, movement and sense of touch are partially or fully blocked. He is a mechanical, electrical and robotics engineer, who has been part of the communications team of the Mars Desert Research Station (MDRS) for over 2 years. He has written various papers for the Mars Society & EEE Conferences. Andy has also been advising PhD students on their Space projects and proposals. Today, he is developing a hands-on, interactive educational program for teaching Astronomy and Space Exploration to children.
